
Dr. Ron Harlan (aka Piranha Ron) has been a regular presenter at SAKE.
Ron is retired. He was a biology faculty member, department chairman, and Dean of Instruction at Glendale College for 33 years. He earned his PhD from UCLA. Ron enjoys fish collecting and has led 6 trips into the Peruvian Amazon as well as collecting in Mexico, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Bolivia, and India.
Ron joined the American Killifish Association in 1965. For the past 40 years he had been the resident Rivulus expert in the Southern California Killifish Club. Ron has kept and bred a wide variety of fish including dwarf cichlids, wild bettas, wild live bearers, and anything else that catches his eye. In the 90s he kept dart frogs and mantellas, African chameleons, and milk snakes. This year he renewed his interest in Killifish
